For those among you who haven’t played the Beta, or who wish to learn more about Act of Aggression, here’s the first post of a series of tips called “Let’s start”. We’ll explain the game’s basic mechanics. And offer advice on how to start a game well.
In any type of games, first things first, you’ll have to check the surroundings of your base to survey all the resources available.
They are needed to produce units, buildings and upgrade them.
Your survey team equipped with a radar is the only one able to detect underground resources fields.
You’ll find one north-east of your HQ. It’s also represented by a little white cross on your minimap.
Start by sending it to the surroundings of your base. Don’t forget to use the “Shift” button to set a series of waypoints that your survey team will move through.
Be careful not to send it too far away as some of them won’t survive long in front of an armed enemy. Although you can always buy another one in the HQ menu, you need to be efficient in the first minutes of the game.
Each faction has its own survey team. All are able to detect underground resources fields and enemy stealth units, but they have different characteristics:
US ARMY
Fast and armed with a M2HB Browning HMG, it is efficient against infantry
& light vehicles.
CHIMERA
Light ground survey drone, slow but well-protected and armed with a quad grenade-launcher. Very efficient against infantry and buildings, it has a greater range of detection than other survey teams.
CARTEL
Light survey drone, fast but unarmed.
There are three types of resources : oil, aluminum and rare earth.
Aluminium
Oil
Rare earth
To collect oil and aluminum, you must build a refinery through the HQ menu.
It can be found after you’ve clicked on the Defcon3 menu for US, Private military for Cartel and SPEAR Protocol
Refineries icons
To collect rare earth, you will need an advanced building. That you’ll gain by upgrading your buildings.
