ACT OF AGGRESSION’S MAP: PHILOSOPHER’S PATH
The first new map delivered for Act of Aggression was a 2v2 one, the next one to be released will be a 3v3, as it seems is most requested.
This new map is called Philosopher’s Path, for here as Baudelaire would put it, “all is order and beauty, calm, luxury and pleasure“. Of course, that is: as long as players don’t come and destroy under their tracks all the lovely landscape our builders took time to create.
With its central island in the shape of a Ying & Yang, this map is meant to be a cooperative 3v3. Again, Senior Game Designer Fabien Reiner explains the design intentions for this map: “it is meant to give players different roles within the team, and to get rid of the usual ‘line of battle’ aspect of other existing 3v3 maps“, with each player having a direct opponent on the other side of the frontline.
Traffic will have to go through bridges, which are many on this map and will have to be secured to advance to the next area. “The map center, divided in half, should give a ‘combat flavor’ quite different from other maps“. Yet, although holding the center might be crucial, side roads are also very important: “the many ways of this philosophical journey are allowing to perform diversions & flanking maneuvers” which can strike at all three enemy players.
“The player holding the central, more remote, position could easily play the support role, but he remains vulnerable to direct attacks, especially if the center falls into enemy hands“.
Therefore, Philosopher’s Path offers plenty of strategic opportunities, and has a flavor like no others.
