The latest addition in the Steel Division: Normandy 44 content roadmap, the first Attack/Defense Breakthrough scenarios, will be available for free on October 26th, as well as two new aces and a bunch of fixes, in the upcoming Ace of Spades update.
Let’s have a look at these long-awaited scenarios.
The Attack/Defense scenarios aim at bringing more variety and new strategies to the battlefield.
In Breakthrough, the Attacker only controls a small portion of the field during the deployment phase, must take and hold the objective, yet suffer less than 3,000 destruction points and keep control of more than 10% of the map. On the other side, the Defender controls the largest part of the map at the beginning of the game, and must retain control of the objective and inflict enough losses to the Attacker’s forces. Of course, the Attacker gets much more resources in his endeavor than the Defender.
While playing an Attack/Defense scenario, you will no longer receive your requisition points every minute, but get all the phase’s points at the beginning of this one.
For the Attacker:
- Deployment phase / phase A: 2,000 points
- Phase B: 1,500 points
- Phase C: 1,300 points
For the Defender:
- Deployment phase / phase A: 1,500 points
- Phase B: 1,000 points
- Phase C: 1,500 points
Such as in Closer Combat, it’s possible to deploy a unit with or without its transport.
You will be able to play Breakthrough in solo and multiplayer. Breakthrough scenarios will be available in 1v1 on 4 variants of existing maps, playable both in attack and defense:
- Offensive on Cheux
- Assault on Colombelles Steelwork
- Crossing the Mederet
- Last stand on Cote 112
For each map, you will be able to choose between 2 specially balanced divisions (3 divisions if you own the Second Wave DLC) on each side. Of course, you will be able to customise your battlegroups for each situation.

October 25, 2017 at 10:28 amWow that sounds really interesting!
Have you planned including a 2v2 variant on this game mode?
Because i love to plan tactics with a friend … and then see how everything is going wrong and making ad hoc adjustments 😉
