With Act of Aggression now officially released, we can focus back on Wargame‘s new maps.
So, here is a preview of the most expected classic map to be ported from EE/ALB: Highway. We are sure that you will be happy to learn that it is nearing completion.
The prodigal son
It won’t be EE’s or ALB’s Highway, but will have its own flavor. As Félix ‘FLX‘ Habert put it, it has been “re-thought to be more balanced, taking and mixing the best out of its two parents“.
For example, RD’s Highway has recovered much of the vegetation which had been removed from EE’s variant to ALB’s: hedges, woods, …. are back for more vicious ambushes and close-quarter battles.
But at the same time, the secondary roads’ network was reworked and expanded in order to balance movements better and to favor maneuver. You also will have to take into consideration the fact that bridges are now suitable for vehicles, making troop movements from one side of the highway to the other very easy. Perfect to reinforce a front or to operate flanking maneuvers.
Two by two, hands of blue
And we won’t be delivering one Highway, but two variants: small one for 1v1 or 2v2, the closest one from the original ; and a large one for 3v3 or 4v4. And themselves set for both Destruction & Conquest modes. Which makes four variations.
As you can see, one of the major modifications was the redesign of the large, unused wooden area in the third of the map opposite to the highway. Roads were added, a village moved, the large forest divided into smaller chunks of woods with the main one now harboring a small mountain.
Those changes offered the possibility to add reinforcement points in this “uncharted” part of the map, for large team games.
Both maps have been adapted individually for Destruction mode, as below:
Once finished and polished, we will have to set a date and way for release. Be sure that we will keep you informed about that as soon as we know more …

September 4, 2015 at 3:25 pmThats looks promising.
I really will check the update out. There is/was a sever lack of map variations, so I welcome the new throw of maps to this game. Also that we get maps with Frontline Spawns is very welcome because in most RD maps it takes ages to call in Tank Reinforcements.

September 9, 2015 at 6:03 amWhat do you mean “unused wooded area”? it was great to walk infantry through and surprise the enemy at the spawn or the arty in the back who don’t understand the concept of flank security, some of the fondest memories I have from that map is the fight for control of that wooded area from someone who had the same idea, those fights that required skillful coordination of air support and artillery to help your infantry gain dominance, now that was a fight. However, I must say the 3v3/4v4 variant looks amazing and I can’t wait to play this map
