We know you are waiting for fresh news on the announced maps for Wargame : Red Dragon.
So here’s an update:
Regarding alternate versions of existing maps, level designer Felix ‘FLX’ Habert and level builder Thibaut ‘Valence’ Robin have been working together to redesign and remake some of the maps you already play on.
FLX explains the process: “We are rotating or cropping some maps, changing their starting points and reorganizing the different sectors. To proceed, I followed the ideas I use to keep in a file. Some of them are pre-existing concepts we couldn’t make during the creation of the game. The other are those we have when playing. And at last some of them were brought by the players themselves during the ‘Community map contest’ organized by [DAY]Topspin2005 last february, or freely sent to me by dedicated Wargamers.”
By now, ten new maps will make their way into Wargame: Red Dragon. So far there will be two 10 vs 10 maps cropped down into a 4 vs 4. Two 4 vs 4 maps turned into 1 vs 1. And six are the ones you already know, viewed from a different angle, with new scale and command zones. A process that will give them a new life.
And at least three maps will be playable in ranked mode.
They all take place in Tropical and Dry environments.
Here are a few examples of the work already done:
Concerning the adaptation of the maps you’ve elected, the same team is working on ‘Highway’ and ‘Three Miles Island’ so far. But this work takes time as you’d probably already guess. Indeed, it takes the same work as it would from a new one from scratch.
And what about the release date? For now, we are thinking of releasing the maps from time to time, once they’ve been produced, tested and approved by our teams. Which means, well, you know the answer: soon.
And ‘cause we are really kind and to keep you waiting, here’s FLX cameo in Act of Aggression.
